I have a multi step process: For the welds~ Belt sander 3 different grits of mini sanding disks hand sanded with 2 different grits of hand pads cleaned cotton polishing wheel with a grey resin sometime I use a second compound resin for a amazing luster had buffed with a new & clean microfiber terry cloth. My older brother was a professional polisher for a couple bike companies. He give me direction and hints. I remember watching him polish in his booth when I was an early teenager.
